Business Insurance Malaysia

From a first shoplot to nationwide fleets, factories and complex risk. We compare across a panel of licensed Malaysian insurers, tell you plainly what is not covered, and handle the claim when it comes. Arranging commercial cover since 1982.

Where most businesses are exposed

The gap is rarely the building.

Most Malaysian businesses buy fire insurance because the bank requires it for the loan, then stop. The covers that decide whether a business survives a bad year are usually the ones nobody asked them to buy: the income lost while the premises are unusable, the liability to a customer who was injured, the cargo that never arrived, the key person who is suddenly not there.

We are not tied to one insurer

We place business across Liberty, Kurnia, Etiqa, Berjaya Sompo, Takaful Malaysia, Tokio Marine and AIA, then explain which fits and why, including when the cheaper option genuinely does.

We tell you what is not covered

Every product page on this site carries a plain list of what the policy typically will not pay. Read it before you buy, not after a loss.

We work the claim with you

You reach a named specialist, not a queue. For large or disputed claims our senior team puts the technical argument to the insurer on your behalf.

Free, no obligation

Send us the policy you already have.

The most useful thing we do for a business owner is not a quotation. It is reading the schedule you already hold and showing you what is covered, what is exposed and what you are paying for twice. We will tell you honestly if what you have is fine, and we often do.

Common questions

How much does business insurance cost in Malaysia?
There is no single answer, because premium depends on what you do, where you do it, the sums insured and your claims history. A small shoplot package can start in the low hundreds of ringgit a year; a factory programme runs into thousands. What we can tell you is what drives the number, and where businesses commonly overpay or underinsure. Send us your current schedule and we will show you both.
What insurance does an SME in Malaysia actually need?
Most SMEs need four things: cover for the premises and contents, cover for lost income if you cannot trade, liability to the public and to customers, and cover for your people. Beyond that it depends on the trade. A restaurant needs product liability; a logistics operator needs goods in transit; a contractor needs contractors' all risks. We work through it with you rather than selling you a bundle.
Is business insurance compulsory in Malaysia?
Some parts are. Motor insurance is compulsory for commercial vehicles, and employers have statutory obligations under PERKESO and, for foreign workers, the relevant insurance schemes. Fire insurance is usually required by the bank as a condition of a property loan. Public liability and business interruption are not legally required, which is exactly why they are the covers most often missing when something goes wrong.
What is the difference between fire and business interruption insurance?
Fire insurance pays to rebuild or replace what burned. Business interruption pays the income you lose while you cannot trade. Both matter, and businesses commonly buy the first because the bank asks for it, then discover the second was the one that decided whether they reopened. We have written a full guide on this.
Can you review the business insurance I already have?
Yes, and there is no charge. Send us your current policy schedules and a specialist maps what is covered, what is exposed and what is duplicated across policies. We will tell you honestly if what you have is fine. That is a real answer we give often.
Do you handle the claim if something happens?
Yes. That is the part of the job we care most about. You reach a named specialist rather than a call centre, and for large or disputed claims our senior team puts the technical argument to the insurer on your behalf. The final decision always rests with the insurer.
